A talk with Sara Galindo & Pamela Ocampo

Under the premise of mixing up the industry, Sara Galindo and Pamela Ocampo share their vision to optimize fashion communication in our region.

The successful growth of the industry is not only tied to the economic aspect, but also to the demands of the public. Today, Latin America lives an effervescent moment, and it is up to the designers and creatives to impact from the inside out. I’ve sat down with experts Sara Galindo, author and founder of Mexicouture and KM33, and with Pamela Ocampo, Editor In-Chief of L’Officiel Mexico, and this where their important points:

One of the points of discussion was the quality of emerging designs. From manufacturing, materials, pricing, and visual communication, they are all relevant to consider. Today, magazines, web sites and boutiques are tools for growth; but the most important is to see the value from in your roots and take it one step at a time. “It is not necessary to de ne yourself as luxury or Premium right away, I don’t believe that’s the goal; but rather to educate on the value of local artistry, hand work and ethical labor. Real luxury is the ability to creatively impact your country” tells Galindo. “Furthermore, the most valuable aspects that we can see nowadays are honesty and authenticity” shares Pamela, “both, in brands as in influencers. The public wants conscious content, we don’t want deceits”.

As guests of the REACT Forum held in Costa Rica this past May, where we had the opportunity to meet, both Sara and Pamela agree on their mission of leaving a positive instrument to the ones that listen to them. Sara and Pamela say goodbye to clichés of perceiving fashion as an unrealistic or unattainable entity. “If I did it, everyone can. It is a matter of hard work and focus in the path you want to follow” Sara a rms. Likewise, Pamela emphasizes on the importance of responsibility. “We have to spread awareness and understand the true essence of what we wear, I think that’s the most positive message we can leave during these talks. Fashion is a creative fantasy, it should nourish the soul in every sense of the word” she concludes.
